Day 01: ARRIVAL IN XINING (L+D) HOTEL
Upon your arrival, your guide will meet you at Xining airport and
transfer to the hotel. The rest of day is at leisure for you adapt
to time difference.
Day 02: XINING - KUMBUM MONASTERY - LAKE
KOKONOR (B+L+D) HOTEL
You will have a half-day Kumbum monastery Tour in the Morning. After lunch you will mach to Lake Kokonor,
the bigest inland salt lake.On the way you can visit Sun-moon Mountain
Pass(3600M) which was a stop for Wencheng Princess when she went
to Tibet to marry King of Tibet.Sightseeing at the bank of Kokonor.
Day 03: KOKONOR - GOLMUD (B+L+D) HOTEL
Whole day long driving to Golmud. on the way you will enjoy the
beautiful highland scenery.En route, visit the Chaka Salt Lake that
is not only famous for producing Qinghai salt, but also for the
unique landscapes in the area. Continue the trip to Golmud.
Day 04: GOLMUD - TUOTUOHE (B+L+D) HOTEL
Drive through the Gobi Desert and enjoy the magnificent view. Pass
the Tongtian River (the tributes of the Yangtze River). Arrive at
Tuotuohe River and check into the Tuotuohe Inn.
Day 05: TUOTUOHE - NAKCHU (B+L+D) HOTEL
Arise early and enjoy an impressive view of the sunrise at the Tuotuohe
River Bridge and depart for Nagqu. En route, you can see Geladandong
Mountain where the Yangtze River originates. Then drive through
the Tangghula Pass and arrive at Amdo (4500m) and Nakchu.
Day 06: NAKCHU - LHASA (B+L+D) HOTEL
After breakfast, drive to Namtso, one of the holy lakes in Tibet.
Stop by the lake and enjoy a picnic lunch. Continue the trip to
Yangbajing Geothermal Fields for a visit. Then continue the visit
to Tsupu Monastery.
Day 07: LHASA (B+L+D) HOTEL
You will have a full day tour in Lhasa. The highlight today is the
Magnificent Potala, the winter palace of the Dalai Lama; the place
where the former great Dalai Lama's stupas are being kept; once
the seat of the Tibetan government. With a history of over 1,300
years, the Potala Palace is the treasure of Tibetan religion and
culture, storing plenty of figures of the Buddha, murals, sutras
etc. After visiting Potala Palace, you will visit one of the three
largest monasteries of Gelugpa, the Sera Monastery, and Dalai Lama's
summer palace of, the treasure Park of Tibet, the Norbulingka. After
the day's sightseeing, you will be offered an insight into the daily
life of the Tibetan people, you may also be served tea in their
home.
Day 087: LHASA (B+L+D) HOTEL
In the morning, you will visit the No. 1 Monastery of Gelugpa, Drepung
Monastery, which is the richest monastery ever in Tibet, and is
still active today. Then you will be guided to visit the Tibet Museum,
which is the first museum in Tibet with modern functions, where
you will have a glimpse of the combination of the traditional Tibetan
architectural style and the modern style. The museum stores abundant
rare items, from the prehistorically cultural relics, all kinds
of Buddha and Bodhisattva figures, hand-written cultural books of
past times, to various thangkas, musical and religious instruments,
Tibetan handcrafts, etc. Here you will find a wonderful Tibet in
one museum. . You will visit the sacred pilgrim path, the oldest
street in Lhasa, the Barkhor Street, which is the place where Tibetan
culture, economy, religion and arts assemble. In the afternoon,
you can pay a visit to the Tibetan Traditional Hospital, where you
will see how the Tibetan doctors treat patients in their traditional
ways, and in its library, you will find massive medical sutras and
medical thangkas. The Lhasa Carpet Factory is also a place you should
not miss. The carpets there are all hand-made on old-styled vertical
looms in traditional processes.
Day 09: LHASA - GYANGTSE (B+L+D) HOTEL
In the morning, your guide and driver will accompany you to Gyangtse,
a town lying to the south of Lhasa city. On the way there, you will
visit one of the holiest lakes in Tibet, a pilgrimage site, the
Yamdrok Yumtso Lake, which is compared as 'the fairyland in heaven'
by Tibetans. After a short rest in the hotel, you will visit a special
Monastery, the Palkhor Monastery, the only monastery that houses
monks from different orders (Gelugpa, Sakyapa and Kahdampa) in harmony.
Palkhor also features its Bodhi stupa, or Kumbum, which consists
of hundreds of chapels in layers, housing about a hundred thousand
images of Buddha, so it is called Myriad Buddha's Stupa as well.
After that visiting, you will take a stroll through Gyangtse Old
Street.
Day 10: GYANGTSE - SHIGATSE (B+L+D) HOTEL
You will take jeep today to the second largest city of Tibet, Shigatse.
You will visit the seat of Panchen Lama, the Tashilunpo Monastery.
Each year, there is a display of a gigantic thangkas of Buddha will
on its Thangka Wall. Beside the trove of thangkas, its murals and
other religious and artistic treasures certainly will impose an
indelible impression upon visitors. You will pay a visit to the
New Palace of Panchen also. Stay overnight in the best hotel there.
Day 11: SHIGATSE - LHASA (B+L+D) HOTEL
Today your guide will transfer you back to Lhasa. You may need a
good rest in the hotel.
Day 12: LHASA - XI'AN (B+L+D) HOTEL
Your guide will take you to visit the spiritual center of Tibet,
the Jokhang Temple, where you might meet many pilgrims, who even
prostrate by full length to the threshold of the temple. You will
bid farewell to the mysterious Tibet and its optimistic people,
when your guide transfers you to the airport to take your flight
to Xi'an. Upon arrival, you will be met by your private guide for
transfer you to the hotel. Xi'an used to be the Capital on 12 dynasties
in its 3,100 years of development, so after the visiting, you will
be greatly impressed by its long history and rich culture.
Day 13: XI'AN (B+L+D) HOTEL
One of the absolute highlights of any visit to China is the Terracotta
Warriors and Horses Museum, the most significant archeological excavations
of the 20th century. The life-sized terra cotta soldiers, horses
and chariots had been buried over 2,200 years after the death of
the first Emperor in Chinese history, Qinshihuang. The warriors
and horses being arranged in battle formations seem to protect Qinshihuang
in his afterlife. You will continue to visit the Forest of Stone
Steles Museum and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. The Forest of Stone
Steles Museum displays the stone sculptures from Western Han Dynasty
to Qing Dynasty and is prized as a great treasure in the art of
world stone sculptures. The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is thought to
be the landmark of Xi'an City and it is situated in Da Ci'en Temple,
which is the most famous and possibly the most beautiful Temple
in Tang Dynasty. The evening program is the captivating Deluxe Tang
Dynasty Dinner Show, which is a performance of Chang'an music and
dance originated in China's Tang Dynasty over a thousand years ago.
Day 14: XI'AN (B+L+D) HOTEL
Your guide will transfer you to the west of Xi'an city today to
visit Qianling, Qianling Museum and the tomb of princess Yongtai.
Qianling is the joint mausoleum of Emperor Gaozong and Wu Zetian,
who is the most famous Empress in the Chinese history. After these
visits, you will have a chance to see the farmers' caves, which
some local people are now using to live in today. In Xianyang Terracotta
Museum, you will see cultural relics from Qin and Han Dynasties
and the most famous ones among them is the painted terracotta warriors
and horses, expressing the mighty military power of the West Han
Dynasty. The last evening program in Xi'an is the local speciality
Dumpling Dinner.
Day 15: XI'AN - BEIJING (B+L+D) HOTEL
Another place you can not miss is the Shaanxi Provincial History
Museum, which houses a large collection of 113,000 historic and
cultural artifacts unearthed in Shaanxi province. You will also
visit the well-preserved City Wall, the most complete city wall
survived through China's history and the oldest, largest and best-preserved
Islamic mosques in China, the Great Mosque. After lunch, you will
take flight to Beijing, the capital of China. After arrival, you
will be met and transferred by your guide to the hotel.
Day 16: BEIJING (B+L) HOTEL
The same as the Terra Cotta warriors in Xi'an, the Great Wall of
China is another must-see for any visitor from home and abroad.
In the morning, you will visit one of the well-preserved sections
of the Great Wall, the fantastic scenery at Badaling. The guide
will also take you to one of the Ming Tombs, Dingling, a tomb of
the Emperor Zhu Yijun and his two empresses. After these tours,
you will visit the largest imperial garden in the world, the Summer
Palace. It is a veritable museum of classical Chinese garden architecture,
which utilizes Longevity Hill and Kunming Lake to create a paradise
of hills and waters.
Day 17: BEIJING (B+L+D) HOTEL
Across the Tian'anmen Square, the biggest square in China, you will
walk northwards to the famous Forbidden City, the Imperial Palace
during Ming and Qing Dynasty, the largest well-preserved palace
complex in China today. Among its 9,999 buildings, the most famous
ones are Taihedian (Hall of Supreme Harmony), Zhonghedian (Hall
of Central Harmony) and Baohedian (Hall of Preserved Harmony. However,
the Forbidden City is much smaller than the majestic Temple of Heaven,
which was built in Ming Dynasty to offer sacrifice to the Heaven
to pray for a good harvest for the next year. In the evening, we
arrange the feature flavor, Beijing Roast Duck as your special dinner,
and it will be followed by the spectacular performance of Peking
Opera.
Day 18: DEPARTURE FROM BEIJING (B) HOTEL
Bid farewell to the splendid China today, when your guide transfers
you to the airport.
